Braun Strowman wants everyone to know he could play a god, and he’s making his case one cryptic post at a time.
The Tease
On July 18, the former WWE Superstar (real name Adam Scherr) posted a photo of himself in full Kratos cosplay, red markings and all, the protagonist of Sony’s God of War games who’s set to lead Amazon’s upcoming Prime Video series.
Caption: “Just gonna leave this here!!! #ImHim #Kratos.” Subtle, it was not.
Minutes later, Strowman followed up with a photo of an Amazon Studios visitor pass, his name clearly printed on it, everything else conveniently blurred out.
The caption this time: a string of question marks. Still not subtle.
Why Now
The timing lines up. Amazon had already cast Ryan Hurst, known for Sons of Anarchy and Remember the Titans, as Kratos, but Hurst tore his bicep in July after four of the series’ ten episodes had already wrapped. Producers have reportedly been searching for a replacement ever since.
Nothing is official. Amazon MGM Studios and Sony Pictures Television haven’t confirmed Strowman for the role, or even confirmed he’s a candidate. But a 6-foot-8, 385-pound former Universal Champion cosplaying as the character and getting a studio visitor badge in the same week is the kind of coincidence that gets a fanbase talking.
Strowman has kept busy since leaving WWE, most recently teasing food TV work and independent wrestling appearances. Landing the lead in one of Amazon’s biggest upcoming series would be a different level entirely, and if it happens, he clearly wants credit for calling his shot first.
