Roman Reigns wants the whole world to acknowledge something specific this Saturday: Jalen Brunson sitting next to him at Madison Square Garden. And the Knicks‘ Finals MVP already said yes.
On Monday, Reigns posted the invite himself. “The OTC. The King of New York, @jalenbrunson1. The Mecca… MSG @TheGarden. Let’s have the whole world ACKNOWLEDGE us at @WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event!” Brunson didn’t wait long to respond, replying “See you there” with the pointing-up emoji that’s become his own signature gesture this year. WWE confirmed the appearance shortly after.
This Has Been Building Since Danhausen “Uncursed” the Knicks
Regular readers already know how Brunson ended up on WWE‘s radar in the first place. As The Stunner covered a few days ago, Danhausen cursed the Knicks on ESPN’s First Take back in April, watched them drop two straight one-point playoff losses, then lifted the curse for a Cameo fan and redirected it at New York’s next two opponents. The Knicks haven’t lost since, running all the way to their first championship in 53 years, and WWE made Danhausen the actual poster boy for Saturday Night’s Main Event‘s return to MSG on July 18.
At the time, a Brunson appearance was still up in the air. Reports had WWE pitching an on-screen segment between him and Danhausen, but those plans got shelved once it came out that Brunson needed wrist surgery for an injury he’d played through during the title run. Now Reigns has made the appearance official himself, on camera, tying the Knicks‘ championship run directly to WWE‘s biggest New York show of the summer.
Brunson Isn’t New to This
Brunson has a real history with WWE beyond the Danhausen curse. He appeared on SmackDown in June 2024 alongside LA Knight and Logan Paul, going face to face with Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton in a segment built around the two guards’ playoff rivalry. He’s also on record saying he genuinely believes in Danhausen’s power, which makes Saturday less like a one-off crossover and more like a guy showing up for a wrestler he actually thinks helped his team win a championship.

What’s Confirmed for Saturday
Brunson is still recovering from wrist surgery, so nobody’s expecting him to take a Superman Punch. But between Reigns’ invite, Danhausen’s poster spot, and a Knicks-heavy crowd expected at MSG, Saturday Night’s Main Event is shaping up as one of the more New York-flavored shows WWE has run in years. It streams live on Peacock this Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.
