WWE and ESPN Are Sending Danhausen’s Face Around Minneapolis on an Ice Cream Truck

Danhausen has a blimp, a WrestleMania-week exhibit, and now, ahead of SummerSlam, his very own ice cream truck. WWE and ESPN announced the “Very Nice, Very Evil SummerSlam Freeze Tour” Monday, a four-day roaming popsicle truck taking over Minneapolis with Danhausen’s face built right onto the front of it.

Where to Find It

The truck runs from Thursday, July 30 through Sunday, August 2, hitting Downtown East Commons Park and Nicollet Mall on Thursday, the Minneapolis Convention Center on Friday and Saturday morning, and U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, right around SummerSlam’s two-night run. Every stop is free to the public, according to the official release.

Very Nice or Very Evil

Fans who approach the truck get to spin a flavor wheel and find out their “frozen fate,” landing on either a “Very Nice” lemonade pop or a “Very Evil” mango tajín pop, on brand with Danhausen’s whole deal. There are also giveaways and photo ops built in, so this is clearly designed to be a whole SummerSlam-week attraction, not just a snack stop.

The Curse Angle Writes Itself

Per Forbes, Danhausen is landing in a city that knows a thing or two about sports curses. He’s the same guy who cursed, then un-cursed, the New York Knicks on their way to snapping a 52-year title drought, and Minneapolis is home to the long-suffering, Super Bowl-starved Minnesota Vikings. Don’t be surprised if half the truck’s foot traffic is Vikings fans lining up to make a request that has nothing to do with popsicles.

Part of a Bigger Pattern

This is the latest in a run of oddly premium marketing bets WWE has made on Danhausen since he arrived on the main roster earlier this year, following the Knicks run, the WrestleMania 42 blimp campaign, and his own exhibit at WWE World. He’s also fresh off retaining a win over JD McDonagh at Saturday Night’s Main Event at Madison Square Garden with an assist from Karl-Anthony Towns, and he’ll be part of the SummerSlam undercard wrestling Dominik Mysterio for the $100,000 Dom stole from The Judgment Day.

WrestleVotes summed up the absurdity of it all pretty well:

First a blimp. Now a truck. WWE has fully leaned into treating its strangest star like a mascot, and it’s working.
