Cyndi Lauper’s First WWE Action Figure Reignites Her Hall of Fame Case

Cyndi Lauper reacts to her first WWE action figure from Mattel

The woman who helped bring professional wrestling into the MTV era is finally getting immortalized in plastic. More than 40 years after she kicked off the Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection, Cyndi Lauper is receiving her first-ever WWE action figure, and the timing has fans asking the same question we asked in our full case for her induction: how is this icon still not in the WWE Hall of Fame?

A Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Reunion in Plastic

Mattel is bringing the 72-year-old pop legend into the WWE figure line for the first time as part of a WWE Elite 3-Pack, first revealed by PWInsider. The set reunites Lauper with the two men who made her Piper’s Pit chaos legendary, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Captain” Lou Albano, recreating the 1980s segments that lit the fuse on the entire crossover boom.

The 3-Pack debuts at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, running July 23 through 26, and goes on sale July 23 at 9 a.m. PT on MattelCreations.com for $80. For a performer whose wrestling résumé predates and arguably enabled the first WrestleMania, it is a long-overdue piece of merchandise.

Lauper Played With the Figures on Camera, and Loved It

This was clearly not a contractual obligation. In video shared by PWInsider‘s Mike Johnson, Lauper tore the figures out of the box and started playing, even staging a mock interview with her own action figure.

“I wanted it to be made because I received such an incredible experience with the wrestlers,” Lauper said.

She marveled at the detail of the outfit and the swappable heads for different facial expressions, but it was the memories that got her.

“It just reminds me of Captain Lou and Roddy. And I’m glad that this moment was captured, because this was a classic.”

Why It Matters: The Original Crossover

For younger WWE fans, it is worth restating just how foundational Lauper was. As we detailed in our deep dive on her snubbed Hall of Fame candidacy, her feud with Albano spilled out of her Girls Just Want to Have Fun video and into Piper’s Pit, leading to “The Brawl to End It All” on MTV, “The War to Settle the Score,” and ultimately the first WrestleMania at Madison Square Garden in 1985. She managed Wendi Richter to the WWF Women’s Championship, helped put wrestling in front of the MTV generation, and even credited the crossover with breaking her debut album. The celebrity wing of the Hall has since inducted the likes of Mr. T and Snoop Dogg, yet the architect of the moment that made it all possible is still on the outside.

So Where’s the Hall of Fame Call?

The figure may be the strongest sign yet that the wait is ending. According to WrestleVotes on Fightful Select, the LauperWWE relationship has “strengthened considerably,” with one source saying it opens the Hall of Fame door “wider than ever.”

Fans should temper expectations on timing, though. The same report notes Lauper should “probably not” be expected for induction during WrestleMania 43 week in Saudi Arabia in 2027. For now, the partnership is said to be focused on merchandising and licensing, with more Lauper collectibles expected before the end of 2026 and no on-screen appearances currently planned.

Still, a first action figure, a strengthening relationship, and an open door add up to real momentum. After four decades of waiting, Cyndi Lauper‘s Hall of Fame moment finally feels like a matter of when, not if.
