Jeff Jarrett has named his Top Five favorite opponents from his decades-long wrestling career. Having experienced major runs in WWE, WCW, TNA, USWA and more, Jarrett picked past dance partners from multiple federations.

Here’s Jarrett‘s full Top Five list, plus some excerpts on why he chose these in-ring icons:

5. AJ Styles

“It’s impossible not to put him in my top five. He’s so damn athletic, but his charisma and his development to who AJ Styles is as a performer today… I got to witness Allen Jones come of age. Like a Ricky Morton babyface type in those early days [in TNA]… man, he connected with the audience so good.”

4. Kurt Angle

“Like a Larry Bird, you kind of look at folks who get on a field or a court or in a ring… are you gonna be selfish and make yourself look good at the expense of others? Or are you gonna be the guy that not only raises your game, but everybody you’re in the ring with, you’re gonna raise them to another level? When Kurt was on, he did that maybe better than anybody. Everything he knew how to put together was, to me, at another level.”

3. Ric Flair

“His aura in the ring at that stage in his career was incredible. It’s almost as if I got to pitch to Babe Ruth and slide it in there. There’s only one Ric.”

2. Jerry Lawler

“He was uber talented on every level. Psychology to another level, wasn’t afraid to big bump when it was time. I can’t say enough good things about Lawler. Bell-to-bell, I think he’s so under appreciated. Lawler‘s transitions and how to seamlessly put a story together… I can’t put on enough praise just how good Lawler was.”

1. Shawn Michaels

“I think the best match Triple H was ever in… Shawn Michaels. The best match Undertaker ever in… Shawn Michaels. Maybe the best match Kurt Angle‘s ever been in… Shawn Michaels. Maybe the best match Jericho‘s in, Bret, there’s multiples we could go to here. I call him the Michael Jordan of professional wrestling. He makes everybody exponentially better.”
