Fans Serenaded Cody Rhodes With His Own WWE Theme Song in Mexico City

A crowd in Mexico City gave Cody Rhodes a welcome usually reserved for a title defense. At a fan event for his upcoming Street Fighter movie, fans broke into a full, word-for-word sing-along of his WWE entrance theme, “Kingdom,” while Rhodes signed autographs and soaked it in.

The moment was caught on video and posted by @soitgoesrhodes on X (h/t SEScoops), captioned simply: “Fans in Mexico City singing ‘Kingdom’ to Cody tonight.”

“Kingdom” Has Become Bigger Than a Theme Song

“Kingdom,” written and performed by Downstait, has been Rhodes’s entrance music since his WWE return, and moments like this one show just how deeply it’s connected with fans beyond the arena. A crowd choosing to sing a wrestler’s walkout music back to him, unprompted, at a movie promo stop rather than a wrestling show, says plenty about how far the song (and Rhodes’s story with it) has traveled.

The Street Fighter Press Tour Keeps Rolling

The Mexico City stop is the latest in a packed run of promotional appearances for Rhodes, who plays Guile in the film. He recently showed up to UFC 332 in character, drawing a wave of fan cosplay alongside him. Roman Reigns also appears in the movie as Akuma, giving WWE’s two biggest current stars a shared marquee outside the ring. Street Fighter hits theaters worldwide on October 16.

Back in WWE, Rhodes is still mid-feud with Randy Orton. He beat Orton to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42, Orton got his receipt back on Sunday Night’s Main Event after returning at SummerSlam, and the two are now tied 1-1 in singles matches this year. A rubber match feels like it’s only a matter of time, but for one night in Mexico City, Rhodes got to just be the guy everyone wanted to sing to.
