It is no secret that Bad Bunny is one of the most passionate celebrity fans in the history of professional wrestling. From his incredible performance at WrestleMania to his San Juan Street Fight at Backlash, the global music sensation has earned the respect of wrestlers and fans alike.

However, he proved just how deep his fandom goes this week. The recording artist was spotted enjoying a night out at a CMLL event at the historic Arena Mexico, but he didn’t do it from a VIP box. Instead, he went incognito in the front row.

The King of Silver and Gold

To blend in with the crowd, Bad Bunny donned the mask of Místico, one of the most iconic luchadores in Mexican history. While he likely hoped to enjoy the show as a regular fan, CMLL was well aware of his presence.

The promotion confirmed he was in attendance on their official Instagram account, sharing photos of the music star disguised in the “King of Silver and Gold” mask. CMLL posted a glowing caption regarding his visit, which translates to:

“I should have taken more photos! The multi-award-winning Bad Bunny enjoyed The Best Lucha Libre in the World up close, vibrating with every fall and every hold… and wearing nothing less than the mask of the King of Silver and Gold, Místico! A unique evening that confirms that the magic of Arena México conquers the whole world.”

A Note on the Competition

While this was mostly just Bad Bunny having a fun night out at the “Temple of Lucha Libre,” it is worth noting the political landscape of the wrestling world in Mexico. CMLL is a direct competitor to AAA, the promotion that was recently purchased by WWE‘s parent company earlier this year.

Usually, when WWE stars or affiliates appear in Mexico, it is under the AAA banner. However, Bad Bunny operates on his own wavelength. His appearance at Arena Mexico proves that his love for the art form transcends brand loyalty or promotional rivalries. He just wanted to see some high-quality Lucha Libre.

The Itch to Return

Seeing Bad Bunny ringside, even in disguise, is sure to fuel speculation about when we might see him inside a WWE ring again.

Back on October 3, I covered comments made by Bad Bunny‘s friend and former rival, Damian Priest. The former World Heavyweight Champion revealed that the singer has been asking about a return. Priest noted that Bad Bunny definitely has the “itch” to get back to work. You can read the full details on those comments here.

Bad Bunny is not the first star to show up at CMLL recently. Other notable artists to take in a night of lucha libre at Arena Mexico include Tool, Olivia Rodrigo and St. Vincent.

If his trip to Arena Mexico is any indication, that itch isn’t going away anytime soon.
