The worlds of rock and roll and professional wrestling have collided once again. “Wrestling’s Last Journeyman,” Jeremiah Plunkett, is the lead in the new music video for the hit single “He’s a Bad, Bad Man” by garage rock duo The Ex-Bombers. The video showcases the reigning NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Champion in a gritty, cinematic story filmed on the streets of Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
A Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Connection
The partnership between the wrestler and the band was forged on the set of another music video, for “Get the Experience,” the theme song for the popular Jim Cornette Experience podcast. Plunkett enjoyed the sound of The Ex-Bombers so much that he began using “He’s a Bad, Bad Man” as his entrance music in Billy Corgan’s National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and on the independent circuit.
The single has proven to be a hit for the vinyl-only cult band, which recently released it digitally for the first time. The track has been played on over 400 radio stations across 33 countries and was even named the #1 hot song of the summer by legendary rock critic Jim DeRogatis on the “Sound Opinions” show.
A Bad, Bad Man
The music video for “He’s a Bad, Bad Man” is described as a “wild and compelling New Hollywood style story.” It features Plunkett as the titular “bad, bad man” on a mission through the seediest parts of Murfreesboro. The video intersperses this narrative with performance footage of The Ex-Bombers, Keri “Kitty” Cousins and S.M. Nancy Walus. Other professional wrestlers, including Frank Wyatt and Chris Norte, also make appearances.
A Historic Reign
The video’s release comes at a significant time for Jeremiah Plunkett. He is on the verge of surpassing Jerry “The King” Lawler’s 343-day reign to become the longest-reigning NWA Mid-America Heavyweight Champion of the modern era. Known for his deep knowledge and love for the sport, Plunkett has held multiple championships during his impressive 2000+ match career, truly earning his title as the “King of the Territories.”
