Each era of pro wrestling is a reflection of its time. As we look back at the Golden Era, the Attitude Era or even the PG era, there’s always going to be moments that didn’t age well.
Some moments only take on a darker context after a performer is exposed publicly. WWE segments with celebrities like Diddy or Jared ‘The Subway Guy’ Fogle definitely don’t feel the same as they did 10 years ago, for obvious reasons.
Then there’s moments of comedy that were socially acceptable when filmed, but don’t hold up to modern scrutiny. D-Generation X impersonating the Nation of Domination definitely couldn’t happen today, but back in the ’90s, it wasn’t too rare to see white performers in blackface.
