Most wrestlers take a day off before a pay-per-view. Darby Allin got married.
On Saturday, June 27, the AEW star tied the knot with Sara Erickson in Seattle, Washington, less than 24 hours before climbing into a 12-man steel cage at the SAP Center in San Jose for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. When asked about a honeymoon, Allin was direct: “No honeymoon here.”
That tracks. This is the man who proposed on top of Mount Everest.
High-Altitude Romance, ICU Nurse, School Bus
Darby and Sara first met as kids on a school bus, lost touch, and reconnected years later through Instagram, as Allin told Q104.3’s Jim Kerr Rock and Roll Morning Show. Sara is an ICU nurse, a detail Darby said was “very on brand with dating me.” He proposed to her at the summit of Everest in May 2025, during one of his now-routine death-defying off-season adventures, and set the wedding for June 27, 2026, one day before the biggest cross-promotional pay-per-view of the summer.
Priorities intact.

The Guest List Read Like an AEW Locker Room Roll Call
The ceremony brought out a who’s-who of the wrestling world. Sting was there. So was Diamond Dallas Page, who shared his own tribute on Instagram. MJF attended, which is notable given that he was competing against Darby‘s team the following night. Tony Khan, Swerve Strickland, Brody King, Thunder Rosa, Alicia Atout, Bam Margera, and Sting‘s son Steven Kaye were all in attendance.

The Reception Was Exactly What You’d Expect
The chaos started before anyone even walked out. Darby gave his brother the world’s hottest pepper right before the processional. Then, on the dance floor, Brody King laid a chop across the chest of Darby‘s dad. As for Darby himself, his own mother picked him up and slammed him onto a pile of thumbtacks.

The suit was a detail unto itself. Allin wore a black suit with his tattoos drawn onto it, so his full sleeve and chest work were visible even in formal wear. The man dressed for his wedding the way he wrestles: completely committed to the bit.
Then He Got Into a Cage
Roughly 24 hours after saying “I do,” Darby competed in the 12-man steel cage match at Forbidden Door, teaming with Mark Briscoe, Konosuke Takeshita, Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, and Roderick Strong against a team captained by the same MJF who attended his wedding the night before.
There is no one else in professional wrestling quite like Darby Allin. And apparently, that includes how he does weddings.
