It turns out that Hollywood A-lister Ashton Kutcher knows good wrestling when he sees it. During a recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, WWE star Gunther was told by co-host TJ Jefferson that the That ’70s Show actor is a big admirer of his work.
Jefferson, who is friends with Kutcher, shared a text message he received from the actor “completely out of the blue.” Kutcher, who happens to be a black belt in jiu-jitsu, is a ball-knower so to speak, and he has appeared on WWE programming multiple times, including once guest hosting Raw. It seems the “Ring General” has caught his eye.
Upon hearing the compliment, the usually stone-faced Gunther broke character slightly. He looked genuinely flattered, cracking a rare smile and nodding in appreciation that his “violent power” was resonating with a fellow martial artist.
TJ Jefferson: And Rich [referring to host Rich Eisen], I know you’re going to love this because you liked it when I mentioned him. I’m friends with this actor, Ashton Kutcher, if you know him. And he randomly, about three weeks ago, out of nowhere, just sends me this text. We weren’t even talking about this. He just goes: “The thing I like about Gunther is that it’s so underplayed and simple. No effort to be cool, just violent power. I appreciate it.”

Kutcher’s History with WWE
As mentioned, Kutcher isn’t new to this. He has been popping up on WWE television for decades.
These two clips from 2000 show a young Kutcher backstage at SmackDown. He has a funny interaction with Tazz before hanging out with Edge and Christian, strictly for the benefit of those with flash photography.
Guest Hosting Raw in 2010
Kutcher returned in 2010 to guest host Raw, where he got involved in a storyline with Zack Ryder. In these clips, Kutcher puts a “hit” on Ryder, Ryder addresses the host, and The Miz and Eve Torres get involved backstage.
Confronting Jeri-KO
In 2016, Kutcher and his The Ranch co-star Danny Masterson showed up on Raw in Los Angeles. They had a backstage confrontation with Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens, leading to a spot on the list for the Hollywood stars.
Returning with the Next Generation
Finally, Kutcher was spotted front row at Raw Netflix premiere last January, this time enjoying the show as a fan with his son. It’s clear the fandom runs deep in the family.
Ending the “Never Give Up” Era
The appearance wasn’t just to swap pleasantries, however. Gunther was on hand to promote his massive showdown this Saturday at Saturday Night’s Main Event, streaming live on Peacock. The Ring General is set to stand across the ring from John Cena, as he will the legend’s final opponent. In a chilling promise to WWE fans, Gunther vowed to do the unthinkable to the man whose motto is “Never Give Up”—he intends to finally make Cena quit.
