In a crossover that bridges the worlds of video games and professional wrestling, The Pokémon Company has announced an electrifying collaboration with Mexico’s premier lucha libre organization, Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). The two giants will present a special event, Leyendas Pokémon: Z-A × CMLL, live from the historic Arena México in Mexico City.

This unique partnership is set to celebrate the upcoming release of the highly anticipated video game, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and the official reveal of a new Mega Evolved Pokémon, Mega Hawlucha.

From the Screen to the CMLL Ring

The special event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 7:00 PM local time. Fans who can’t make it to the legendary Arena México will be able to watch the action unfold live, as it will be streamed for a global audience on the official CMLL and Pokémon YouTube channels. The collaboration will feature four explosive exhibition matches showcasing the incredible talent of CMLL. The lineup will include some of the promotion’s top luchadores, headlined by the internationally renowned superstar, Místico. This event promises to fuse the high-flying, dramatic action of lucha libre with the world-renowned Pokémon brand.

Mega Hawlucha Takes Center Stage

The timing of this event is directly linked to the recent unveiling of Mega Hawlucha, a new Fighting- and Flying-type Pokémon set to debut in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Hawlucha, already known for its luchador-inspired design and signature move “Flying Press,” takes on an even more formidable appearance in its Mega Evolved form.

To herald the announcement, an animated trailer was released depicting a thrilling battle between Hawlucha and the powerhouse Pokémon, Machamp.

This special event in Mexico City will serve as a real-world celebration of the lucha libre culture that so clearly inspired the popular Pokémon. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is slated for release on October 16, 2025, for the Nintendo Switch family of systems.
