Drake is still finding ways to work wrestling into his music, and this time it’s John Cena getting the shoutout.
On “Quebec,” the surprise single he officially released September 19 as part of the rollout for his self-funded short film FOMO, Drake raps: “Chrome belt, look like John Cena in here.” The line lands right around the 1:28 mark of the video, timed to a shot of Drake showing off his jewelry collection, chrome belt buckle included.
A Callback to the Spinner Belt
The comparison is a clear nod to Cena‘s old United States Spinner Championship, the jewel-covered, “Word Life”-inscribed title he debuted back in 2004 to match his “Doctor of Thuganomics” persona. Cena would go on to bring the same rotating-plate design to the WWE Championship, and he retired as the promotion’s record 17-time world champion, so the flex tracks.
Wrestling fans and outlets caught the line early, during a livestream Drake ran September 15 previewing unreleased FOMO tracks, and it carried over once “Quebec” dropped for real four days later alongside a batch of other FOMO visuals.
Not the First Time He’s Brought Cena Into the Booth
This isn’t Drake‘s first Cena reference. Back in 2023, he name-checked him on “Wick Man,” rapping “John Cena wouldn’t know emotions I wrestle with.” Cena noticed. He responded with a captionless Instagram post of Drake holding a WWE Title, the kind of quiet co-sign that made the rounds in wrestling media without either guy having to say a word about it directly.
A Real One
Drake‘s wrestling fandom isn’t just a bar here and there. He showed up ringside at WWE’s 2025 Elimination Chamber, the show where Cena turned heel and aligned with The Rock and Travis Scott, and told reporters afterward he was “sold” on the product. He’s also called Rhea Ripley his “muse,” so between her and Cena, it’s safe to say the WWE locker room has a real fan in one of the biggest artists on the planet.
