Last Saturday, Poughkeepsie’s Mid-Hudson Civic Center was already vibrating after ACW Aftershock delivered a heavy-hitting night of action. While The Stunner was on-site to capture the pulse of the event, the “Madness” levels reached a critical peak backstage in a way only a tasseled jacket and a pair of neon shades can provide.
The occasion was a momentous one: the announcement that the legendary “Macho Man” Randy Savage is officially being inducted into the MJN Hall of Fame. To celebrate this long-overdue honor, The Stunner sought out Machoverse, the beloved cosplayer who has made a career out of keeping the 1980s aesthetic alive.
However, a peaceful tribute quickly turned into a high-stakes charisma standoff when Black Machismo (also known as Jay Lethal) made a surprise appearance.
The “Macho” Standoff
As the camera started rolling, The Stunner found itself in the middle of a dual-promo stalemate. While both men were there to honor Savage, they both seemed quite convinced that they were the true embodiment of the Madness.
“Don’t tell lies! I’m the Macho Man!” Black Machismo insisted, immediately challenging Machoverse’s claim to the throne. What followed was a masterclass in vocal range and finger-pointing. From squabbling over who arrived at the building first to debating the proper way to hold a championship belt, the two remained in a hilarious deadlock. At one point, Black Machismo even threatened to “take his belt off,” though, in true Macho fashion, it was all in the spirit of the spectacle.
The Cream of the Crop Rises to the Top
Despite the playful bickering over who was the “real” legend in the room, the two found common ground in their shared idol. Black Machismo took a break from the theatrics to reflect on why this induction matters so much to him and the wrestling community at large.
“MJN is doing a real special thing by inducting Randy Poffo,” Black Machismo said, dropping the gravelly tone for just a second. “I idolized the man. I looked up to him. I wanted to be him. And I’m sure you did, too.”
It was a rare moment of sincerity before the two dove right back into the deep end of the Madness, trading “Cream of the Crop” lines and testing who could hit the highest “Dig it!”
DON’T MISS THE HALL OF FAME INDUCTION
While we may never get a definitive ruling on which man is more Macho, The Stunner can confirm that the MJN Hall of Fame just got a lot more colorful. From historic debuts to unforgettable matches, Macho Man helped create lasting wrestling memories inside the MJN Center that fans still talk about today.Randy “Macho Man” Savage will be officially honored during ACW: Reckoning on May 16 at the MJN Center.
